Legacy Strategy
The London Games, Thames Gateway and other East London Regeneration projects will give people in London and the UK unprecedented access to thousands of new jobs and career opportunities. Exxell is a reputable recruitment business operating around London providing recruitment services in the technical arena. We have developed a strategy that works in partnership with Government, contractors, training organisations, Jobcentre Plus (under the Local Employment Agreement) and job brokerage networks such as Newham Workplace that assists the unemployed and/or minority groups across the communities of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and Greenwich.
This has been achieved by specifically building our candidate base from within the boroughs, upskilling within key job requirements for local people, and establishing a clear Corporate Social Responsibility Policy that delivers equality, diversity and inclusion. We can improve skills to help everyone secure jobs for today and the future through the following two funded schemes we have developed.
Induction to Work:
Candidates are introduced in every aspect of health and safety bespoke to their role and responsibilities. In addition this provides a vital orientation to the place of work and their new job.
Trainee/Apprentice:
Candidates are trained to an NVQ level of competency in any of the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, ductwork and donstruction trades. This involves a 12 month onsite and classroom assessment process to qualify in any one trade.
One example of such a Legacy Strategy would be with EDF Energy, where we take candidates that are long-term unemployed, from minority groups, and people from other skill areas, and provide them with bespoke or recognised vocational and/or professional qualifications to work on the Meter Replacement Programme. This is achieved by selecting applicants that have the desire to succeed, and providing them with an NVQ-type qualification in the competency of replacing an Electrical Single Phase Meter. EDF then test the applicant's level of competency and offer the candidate full-time permanent employment if they successfully pass a 6-week paid training / probation period. This strategy will be used by EDF to leave a legacy of candidates with good base knowledge in the electrical trade sector.
This same strategy can be applied to any sector or trade and each client, project or even job would and could have its own Legacy Strateg written.
